American Forces Struck a 'Big Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Asserted Without Offering Specifics.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that US forces struck a "major installation" in Venezuela last week. Yet, the ex-leader withheld information about the precise nature or site of the target, and there has been no additional clarification from his administration.

Vague Comments Offered During a Radio Interview

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels depart from. Two nights ago, we knocked that out. So we struck them very hard," Trump reportedly told Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Verified Strike

Should a US strike is verified, it would represent the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense initiated a buildup of American strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial mission of the military buildup has transformed into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Administration Statements

Trump has for weeks indicated that American military units are ready to expand the operations by hitting objectives within Venezuela, a move that would in theory require congressional authorization.

A clip shared online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion allegedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. However, the video or the facility has not been confirmed by third parties.

An administration official reportedly told a media outlet that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Posture

The Venezuelan government has remained silent on the event the former president described. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from within the country about it.

The deployment of American forces in the region – a posture certain officials have called a sea blockade – marks the most expansive naval operation of his time in office.

Officials have avoided from labeling the operation as a blockade, but have acknowledged that about 15,000 service members are deployed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement current sanctions.
