The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
